Graduate Internship Programme

Overview

This Programme is the Western Cape Government Health and Wellness initiative that provides unemployed qualified youth, with the opportunity to gain work experience. National government and the department have dedicated each self in providing further development opportunities to support the public in becoming skilled. Applicants will gain skills and knowledge through this programme. In the programme, public bodies from all spheres of government (in terms of their normal mandates and budgets) and the non-sector (which are supported by government incentives) purposefully raise the creation of work opportunities for unemployed and poor people in South Africa through the delivery of public and community services.

The Aim of the Graduate Internship Programme:

  • To enhance the employment opportunities.
  • Students to gain meaningful experience of their theoretical knowledge.
  • To address the skills shortages.
  • Allow qualified persons to get opportunities to gain skills through workplace experience.
  • Selected Candidates will receive a stipend (allowance).
  • Providing a support programme that is assisting qualified persons in becoming employable.

Benefits of being an intern:

Interns will receive continuous exposure on the job training and development which would make them qualify and compete for not only public sector posts but also private. Interns are mentored by an experienced member of staff throughout the internship. During the internship, you will qualify for posts advertised internally and externally. As a staff member, interns and their immediate families have access to support from the Wellness component. Skills trainings to enhance job placements and development.

Qualifications of internships offered:

Public Administration, Finance, Accounting, Supply chain Management, HR, Communications, Graphic design, Information Management, Information Technology, Information Systems, Industrial Psychology, Civil engineering, Quantity Surveyor, Health Science and Research, Office Management and Technology,

Who can apply?

Anyone who resides in the Western Cape. Must be a SA Citizen with SA valid ID.
Anyone who is already in possession of a qualification.

The internship program consists of the following:

12 months, Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA)regulated monthly stipend, equivalent to the intern’s NQF level qualification.
A dedicated and an experienced mentor throughout the internship period.
12 months practical work integrated learning.

You may ONLY apply if you are already in possession of a diploma or degree (NQF level 6) in one of the following qualifications:

  • Financial Management
  • Human Resources Management
  • Information Management
  • Information Technology
  • Information Technology / Information Management
  • Medical Physics
  • Office management and Technology
  • Organisational/Industrial Psychology
  • Social Worker

Requirements:

Skills : Good interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), computer literacy
